Berserk Anime Reboot Officially Confirmed for 2027 — Studio Trigger Takes the Helm
It's official. After years of fan campaigns, industry rumors, and one deeply controversial 2016 adaptation, Berserk is getting the anime treatment it deserves.
Studio Trigger — known for Kill la Kill, Promare, and Dungeon Meshi — has been confirmed as the production studio for the new adaptation, set to premiere in Spring 2027.
The announcement came via a brief teaser posted to the official Berserk account, showing the iconic eclipse scene rendered in Trigger's distinctive style. The internet promptly lost its mind.
Trigger's involvement is significant. The studio has a reputation for ambitious visual storytelling and isn't afraid of dark, complex source material. Their work on Dungeon Meshi demonstrated they can handle long-form adaptation with care.
The new series will reportedly start from the beginning — the Black Swordsman arc — rather than picking up where previous adaptations left off. This is the right call. A clean start, done properly, is what the series needs.
No word yet on episode count, but sources suggest a multi-cour run is planned, with the goal of adapting through the Conviction Arc in the first season.
Kentaro Miura's legacy deserves this. The manga, completed posthumously by his studio, is one of the greatest works in the medium. Now it might finally get the animated adaptation it always deserved.
